the play "passion"

Recently, I went to watch the play at the KL pac. The play was named passion. As I know, this play was inspired by Carlos Saura’s film ‘Tango’. This play was created and directed by Joe Hasham. Moreover, as for the information that I get before watching this paly, that Passion boasts a cast of Malaysia’s top dancers and choreographer. The Passion means in this play that they were bold, seductive and also a mesmerizing experience. According to my understanding of this play, that the guy was betray by his girlfriend. The betray means here that, his girlfriend was with another guy. Then, the guy would find another girl as his girlfriend. Even she will leave him. After that, the two girls wanted to couple up with him back. But at the same moment they felt guilty and they left him again. At the end, the two girls end up becoming lesbians. As for me I don’t really like the play because the story was revealed through dance. Therefore I have no basic understanding on ballet dance. Even though I don’t like the play, but seriously I liked their dance and expressions. The way they revealed the story through dance was extremely good.

how i was evaluated

According to me, I could not recognise where my mistake was. After I was evaluated I knew which part of my teaching I should do correction. Moreover, I feel it is good to be evaluated. Firstly, I would like to say that, through evaluation I was aware on what should I do before my micro teaching. I was concentrating more on my preparation for my teaching. Preparation means my activities for the students. I was looking for the appropriateness and accurateness of my activity. For an example, I was looking for the appropriate curriculum specifications for the lesson and so on. After I was evaluated on my preparation, I knew that, my preparation was not perfect but was good enough. Moreover, I get to know that, whether I gave clear step by step details for my lesson. Therefore, according to my to set induction, I get to know whether it stimulates the learners interest. In the other hand, I was even evaluated whether my set induction was related or relevant to the lesson. At the per-reading stage, I get to know that is my task is within learners’ ability or not. Through this I get to know that my instructions were grammatically accurate or not. Therefore, I was able to make my activity be student centered and have the chance to check whether the students’ understanding. I was even evaluated on the while reading stage. In the while reading stage, I understand that the activities that I prepared was related to the pre reading. In this stage I did a better job, this I was evaluated. It means that my while reading activity was interesting. It was in an effective and appropriate manner. Lastly, I would like to say the evaluation on my language. I get to know that, I speak clearly and the learners could hear me but I was quite nervous. As overall, I get a chance to learn and correct myself.

Evalauting others

When evaluating others, I could evaluate myself too. Firstly, I evaluated the preparation of the activities for the learners’. At this stage, some was well prepared and some were not. By evaluating them, they have a chance to correct them themselves. In the other word they could identify their mistakes. There are good teachers’ according to my evaluation. Their preparation on the activities was good. The topic they choose was appropriate with the curriculum specification. Moreover, the worksheets were prepared in an accurate manner. Therefore there are teachers’ was quite nervous as the could not prepare their worksheet in an appropriate manner. When I evaluated the set induction, there are teachers’ has done a really good job. Seriously the activity stimulates the students’ interest. As a student I enjoyed the activity. And even the instruction was very clear and the teacher was able to connect the activity to the lesson. It was also more to student centered learning. As a student I understood that, what the teacher is teaching. But there are some teachers need to be improved in this set induction, even me too. At the next stage, which is pre reading, I get to know that some of the extract was in appropriate length. But therefore, there were some of the teachers’ grammar was not accurate. This was the one the comment I gave to the teacher, so she could improve her grammar. At the while-reading stage, most teachers’ task was related to the pre- reading task. Moreover, the teacher checks if the learners’ what was being thought. Lastly , I evaluated the language of the teachers’. Overall everyone was good.

Teiresias

Teiresias uses his spiritual abilities towards Oedipus. This means that, destruction that Teiresias gave to Oedipus encounters him after he learn the truth of his life. This situation occurs when Teiresias reveals about Oedipus. Moreover, Teiresias is the who is responsible for the striking of the dramatic irony in this play. This is because of his great knowledge of the truth of Oedipus. Therefore, Teiresias is also responsible for futher developing of the theme which is blindness. Teiresias is not only responsible for the dramatic irony in this play; he is to be blame for the foreshadowing for Oedipus’s fate. Oedipus is the main character of in Sophocles play Oedipus Rex, could not see the truth, but Teiresias the blind man could see it. Moreover, Oedipus, is known for his intelligence who is ignorant and therefore he was blind to the truth about himself and his past. Yet, when Teiresias exposes the truth he is shocked. It is left to Oedipus to overcome his "blindness," realize the truth, and accept fate. Teiresias the blind prophet provides Oedipus with the hurtful truth.Teiresias represents insight, therefore his wise words should be perceived as prophecies of events to come and morals to learn. Teiresias though physically blind can see better or more spiritualist than Oedipus who has perfect vision and yet still blind to the truth.

REVIEW ON THE MOVIE "STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE"

Before I complete my reading on the play of the Street Car Named Desire, I watched the movie Street Car Named Desire. The movie was more interesting compare to the other movies I watched. After watching the movie, I get to know about Victoria culture. The women can’t talk back of fight back to the men. As another word, it can be said that they were more to slave than wife. In this movie, Blanche was not happy with her sister’s an also her husband’s character. She was not happy with the sister because she was obeying the husband’s rule of life. Moreover, she was not happy with Stanley because he was controlling her sister’s life. In the ending part of this movie, Stella will leave Stanley. Actually, according to Victorian culture, the women suppose to be with the husband no matter what. The women have to be dependent on the man for everything. But in the movie it was the other way round. After I finished reading the play, I get to know that the ending part was different. In the play Stella will not believe Blanche and will go on leaving with Stanley, but in the movie in was the other way round. I was the opposite of the Victorian culture.

REVIEW ON THE MOVIE "SHAKESPEAR WALLAH"

In this movie, there was an exposure on the Shakespearean’s play. According to me in this movie, there was a difference between the actors of the play and the actors of a movie. In this movie, the acting of the actors was emphasis in a play on Shakespeare’s story. According to me, in the Shakespeare’s time the acting was important. The expression and emotion is considered important. At the same moment, the movie shows whether the people are more interested to watch a play or movie. In this movie, the people who acted in the Shakespearean’s play show their efficiency but the people who acted in the movie does not show their efficiency. As an overall of the movie, shows the peoples’ are more into and give importance for the Shakespearean’s play.

REFLECTION ON LECTURES

In my first class on drama, it was so boring and I could not understand what was going on. As I learned more about drama, I find that I could understand better. Moreover, my interest on drama developed. Other than that, when I learned there is different types of theater and how the drama developed century by century. Moreover, I have learned about the stage character. The play by Edward Bond Bingo was interpreted as actions. After looking at my friends who acted the play, I could understand the play better and easier. Some of my friend expresses their expression in different ways while acting out the play. They have different characteristics, settings and so on. When I tried to act out the play together with my friend, it was quite interesting. Anyway I enjoy acting the play, where I could imagine myself as someone else at different setting, expressions and so on.

CYCLE OF LIFE

Different people view life differently. In Oedipus Rex there are three stages of life. There is baby, young man and old man. Some people view life by just looking at background of a person, but some view the value of life. In Oedipus Rex, Oedipus is from a royal family, where the people viewed Oedipus background. When we compare to William Shakespeare’s poem As You Like It there is seven stages of life. The first one is the infant, second is school boy, then lover, soldier, pantaloon and oblivion. He view life as men and women are players who plays their role according to their age and they supposed to.

IMPORTANT ELEMENT IN DRAMA

The most important elements in a play are the gender. I am saying this because, when we verify the gender, whether it is female or male, and then only we could guess or find out the subject of the play. Moreover, after we identified the gender, the conversation is easy to understand. When we watch a play, the differences between the male and female expression is important. Other than that, sometimes the gender conveys different meaning to the audience. Sometimes, gender also could impress the audience. The play will also be interesting when there is an element of gender. In some play, the male actor would perform the female role. This shows that, the element of gender is important. As my friends act out the play by Edward Bond Bingo

I feel that the element of settings is important. Even the background is also important to make the play interesting.

REFLECTION ON TUTORIAL

The reflection about the tutorial class was, the tutor gave more detail explanation on Oedipus Rex, such as the early scenes and the later scenes. I could understand the play better after doing the exercise. Actually, I did not complete reading Oedipus Rex, before attending the tutorial class. I only know the earlier scenes in Oedipus Rex. So, to complete the assignment, I forced myself to complete reading Oedipus Rex. After complete reading Oedipus Rex, I know what happen in the later scene of Oedipus Rex. It is an interesting play. Next, I could recognize the themes in Oedipus Rex at the next tutorial class. Not one theme, more than one theme. Sometimes, the tutorial class is boring.
